Fam Tours
Recently the Dining and Lodging Association has decided to set up local Familiarization Tours (Fam. Tours) throughout San Juan County. They feel this will give locals more knowledge about places to stay, eat, points of interest and scenic drives. This in turn will allow the locals to help visitor's when they have questions. The first one was set up in the scenic mountain town of Monticello, UT. Hosts were Keith and Anna Clark from K&A Chuckwagon and MaryAnn from PJ's of Monticello.
All that attended were introduced to the Welcome Center, The Hideout Golf Course, the new George Wythe College that will break ground in 2010, the amazing scenic drive around the Abajo Mountain called Harts Draw Rd.; that looks down into Canyonlands National Park, and Newspaper Rock that is located on the road (Hwy. 211) that goes into Canyonlands.
There was a chill in the air, wild turkeys and deer all about and clear skies that enabled everyone to see for miles. Monticello is definately a beautiful, exciting place to visit. (www.monticelloutah.org)
A big thank you to Keith, Anna and MaryAnn for making the tour comfortable, fun and full of helpful information.
