Vacation Ideas!
What I would do if I had two days to enjoy Lake Powell.
I would definitely recommend staying at the Defiance House Lodge 435.684.3032. The rooms are very nice, and the views are natures best. I would also recommend having meals at the Anasazi Restaurant, its casual dining with friendly service, there are no reservations needed. During the warm and peaceful daytimes, renting a power boat at Bullfrog Boat Rentals (435.684.3010) is both fun and exhilarating. Smart boaters always have a map, which are available at all the retail outlets, along with cool shirts and souvenirs. Some of the most fun I had when I first got here was to examine the map, and set out early the next day to see it in person.
Houseboating is also transformative but should be done over 3-7 days to fully relax. The great thing about houseboating is that you can move the entire camp every day if you want, and with 2000 miles of shoreline there is plenty to see. I could go on and on of course, but new visitors should begin by scheduling plenty of time to relax. No rat race going on here, just an abundance of peace and tranquility.
Take care,
K.M.

A Challenge!
My questions to you is, "What did you do on your last vacation to San Juan County"?
Winterfest
Monticello Chamber of Commerce has decided to take advantage of all this great snow! They are having what they hope will turn into an annual event. It will be the first annual Abajo Winterfest and will be held in Monticello on Feb. 18th and 19th. There will be cross country skiing, sledding, and sculpturing competitions. A chilli cook off. Family sledding, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and even some outdoor survival clinics. There is even a homemade sled making competition. Bring the whole family and have a great day with friends.

The Mountains are Changing!
The LaSal and Abajo Mountains are changing their colors again, letting us know it's time to get that fall work done. The reds and yellows of the leaves are vibrant this year, they were missed sorely last year with an early freeze, that turned them to brown overnight. We are enjoying the colors of fall, bring your jacket there is a nip in the air.

Make your way to the mountains.
Beat the heat by heading to the mountains to have that picnic. Every thing is still in bloom thanks to the rain we received in June and the cooler temps.
